American Urban Radio Networks White House correspondent April Ryan has a new op-ed in the Washington Post calling out President Donald Trump for his continued attacks on the press.
Specifically, for the way he insulted not just her, but PBS’ Yamiche Alcindor and CNN’s Abby Phillip.
To recap: Trump scolded Ryan and told her to sit down when she called out a question at Wednesday’s wild and fiery press conference. When Alcindor asked about concerns that his “nationalist” talk is emboldening white nationalists, Trump called it “such a racist question.” Yesterday when Phillip asked Trump if he wants Matt Whitaker to rein in Robert Mueller, he called it a “stupid question.” Trump also went on a tangent yesterday calling Ryan a loser.
As Ryan writes, there’s a pretty clear common denominator: “Though there’s hardly anyone — from his predecessors to senators in his own party — he won’t try to shout down with ad hominem insults, Trump relishes, and injects venom into, verbal attacks against women of color.”
