Sheila Oliver Sworn in as New Jersey’s First Black Lieutenant Governor

TRIBUNE STAFF REPORT  Jan 17, 2018 Democrat Phil Murphy was sworn in Tuesday as New Jersey’s 56th governor. He succeeds two-term Republican Gov. Chris Christie. Former Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver was also sworn in Tuesday. She replaces Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno. Lt. Gov. Oliver becomes the state’s first Black lieutenant governor.
